It’s almost time for the biggest birthday party of the year—that being the 250th birthday of the United States of America and the City of Hopkinsville and the Western Kentucky State Fair are getting ready to celebrate big.
Speaking with WHOP this week, Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Coordinators Jacob Gibson and J.R. Davie say there will be live music at the gazebo at the Western Kentucky State Fair on Saturday as part of their Red, White and Oooh booth, with Davie saying you’ll be able to enjoy some local and regional talent starting at 6 p.m.
When exactly the fireworks extravaganza will begin will depend on timing with the Truck and Tractor Pulls happening in the grandstands at the fair, but they hope to get started around 9 p.m., so you might get there a little early to be safe.
The fireworks are happening at Debow Recreational Park off North Drive this year, and Gibson says the best place to see the show will probably be the fairgrounds itself, but there will be parking available off of North Drive and surrounding areas as well.
They will have the playground itself closed off to visitors, along with the closest parking lot and the road that runs behind it, as that’s the fallout zone for the fireworks.
You can find more information on the Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Facebook page, or through the Western Kentucky State Fair website, westernkentuckystatefair.org.
