Members of the community gathered at Alpha Alternative Pregnancy Care to spotlight the work the 2023-2024 class of the Hopkinsville Leadership Program did to benefit the nonprofit on Tuesday.
As a result of the leadership program’s work, Alpha Alternative cut the ribbon on two new remodeled spaces and also received a check of around $10,000 set to go toward their services. Alpha Alternative is a Hopkinsville nonprofit that offers free pregnancy and reproductive health services such as ultrasounds, pregnancy testing and abortion information.
Each year the Christian County Chamber of Commerce hosts a leadership program class and those enrolled have the opportunity to do a project and this year’s class chose to support Alpha Alternative.
Alpha Alternative Executive Director, Angie Crawford says the leadership program remodeled their conference room adding a kid’s play area and a kitchenette they also created a new office area.
Before the leadership program started their project, Crawford says they had two unfinished rooms and those in the leadership program went above and beyond her expectations for what she imagined for the space. With the remodeled conference room Crawford says they will have a space for mothers who are in similar situations to be able to socialize.
The leadership program was responsible for raising funds for the project and the money that was not used for the remodel was presented to Alpha Alternative as a donation which totaled to $10,203. Crawford says all of their services are free so the money will put to good use.
Wendy Aldridge the chair of the leadership committee says it was amazing to see how the leadership program was able to benefit Alpha Alternative.
