The Pennyroyal Arts Council promotes the performing arts and is the steward of the historic Alhambra Theatre. To support its mission, the council is inviting the community to its 12th annual Hoptown Hopfest for an evening of yacht rock hits.
Ride Like the Wind: The Yacht Rock Experience is headlining the concert, and they will be performing songs by Christopher Cross, Hall and Oates, Toto and many other yacht rock artists.
Arts Council Executive Director Margaret Prim has watched the band perform before and says it consists of around 11 musicians from the Georgia Players Guild. The performance will also be filmed for the band’s promotional material.
Prim says the show offers a fun, music-filled night all while supporting the Alhambra. With the funds raised, Prim says she wants to purchase a new curtain for the wall at the back of the theatre’s stage.
Hoptown Hopfest will take over the Alhambra at 7 p.m. on August 15, and tickets are available at pennyroyalarts.org.
