As is natural when there’s a big change, there’s been a few hiccups regarding the transition from GFL to Impact Waste Services and Christian County Judge-Executive Jerry Gilliam is putting out some information for impacted residents.
There has been a gap in residential trash collection for some folks in the unincorporated portions of the county—particularly in southwestern areas—as GFL service ends and Impact Waste began service on July 1. Judge Gilliam says those who had a gap in service can take their extra trash to a large roll-off container that is located at 100 Margaret Place in Hopkinsville.
That trash can be dropped off from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Thursday, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, and from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Saturday. This temporary service is only for residents impacted by the lapse in trash collection services. Household trash must be bagged, and no bulky items will be accepted, such as furniture, tires, mattresses or construction debris.
GFL is also continuing to pick up their containers, and they have requested that residents leave those cans at the end of their driveway, empty of trash. That includes older, non-GFL branded cans, which should be collected by the third-party vendor as well.

This particular change in service does not affect citizens within the city limits of Hopkinsville, Oak Grove, Pembroke or Crofton.
