Kentucky’s 2026 Spring Turkey Hunting Season had a record-breaking harvest of 36,439 turkeys.
According to the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, this year’s turkey harvest is up 18.8% from last year’s hunting season. Christian, Hopkins and Muhlenberg Counties were among the counties with the top 10 harvests in the state. Six hundred and thirty-nine turkeys were harvested in Christian County, 636 in Hopkins County and 746 in Muhlenberg County.
Turkey-Grouse Program Coordinator Zak Danks says everything they saw over the last two years – from the high percentage of hens laying eggs, strong poult survival rates and the emergence of cicadas in parts of Western Kentucky – suggested that hunters would enjoy a lot of opportunities to harvest birds this season.
